Long Range WiFi Repeater Extender Outdoor

Works With All Devices

How it Works: Our directional antenna receives a distant available WiFi signal about 1/2 mile away (max. range is about 3 miles)* and connected with our CC Vector repeats a new WiFi signal in a dead zone, for use by all devices in your barn, shop, office, or other building. Sharing internet is a great way to save money! Range depends on obstructions and the signal strength of the network you're connecting to.

The system uses a directional 15dBi parabolic antenna to increase speed and reduce interference from other WiFi networks. The heavy-duty system mounts outdoors (mast not included) to a fixed location and then connects to the CC Vector inside.

The receiving antenna's range exceeds average WiFi range extenders designed for in-home use and the system works on all Windows®, Android®, Apple®, iPhone® and Smart TVs.

There are two available Ethernet jacks on the CC Vector for hardwiring additional computers or routers. It uses the most popular WiFi band at 2.4GHz. It also supports 5 GHz for shorter ranges. The setup is simple and easy for basic computer users.

Perfect fit for a shop or office away from my main residence. I must admit I had reservations about this setup initially but I have had good luck with many products from CCRANE in the past. This WiFi repeater WORKS, period! Perfect solution for getting a great WiFi signal to an out building or office. Highly recommend this system. F Haddock, Damascus, GA

The CC Vector Long Range is capable of supporting two users watching SD quality Netflix™ or several users browsing the internet simultaneously. As distance is increased, speed is reduced.

Comes with C. Crane US based tech support.

*Line of sight, without walls, trees or other obstructions. Also depends on the strength of the WiFi router.

I live in an area that regularly experiences temperatures below freezing. What methods can I take to prevent damage to the outdoor receiver (CC DX Mile)?

Our CC DX Mile WiFi Receiver that is included with our CC Vector System can have issues when operating in temperatures below 32°F.

Suggestions:

Applying a 10” long piece of pipe insulation made for 1-1/2” outside diameter pipe and has an outside diameter of about 3”. Three layers of electric tape can be used to compress and seal the top. It is best to leave the bottom open for drainage. We suggest removing the insulation when the weather has warmed for the season or when it approaches 75° F.

OR

If it is possible to move the outdoor receiver (CC DX Mile) inside for protection, you can add a Low Loss Coax N Type Female to N Type Male cable to extend the distance from the outdoor antenna and the receiver. To minimize line loss, we recommend the cable to not exceed 6 feet. The cable will connect to the outdoor antenna’s N Type connector and then to the CC DX Mile's N Type connector. We recommend weather proofing each connection with coaxial tape.

I am trying to setup my CC Vector system and when I enter the IP Address of 192.168.18.1 into a browser, I get the message "Unable to Load Page" or "No Internet" message. What am I doing wrong?

There are a few possibilities
  1. The most common reason is that your WiFi device (laptop, smartphone, tablet, iPad, etc.) is not connected to the CCrane-***** WiFi network (as shown in the instructions for Step B1).
    1. Go to your WiFi settings on your device (laptop, smartphone, tablet, iPad, etc.) and connect to the WiFi Network Name CCrane-***** and enter the password that is listed on the bottom of the repeater.
  2. Possibly using a search box instead of the Address Bar on the browser. Please make sure to type the IP address into the address bar not a search box.
  3. Some smartphones and tablets will not accept a direct input of an IP address. Entering 192.168.18.1 in their browsers search field will net a ‘No Internet’ message on the screen. For these browsers apps you must manually enter the hypertext command. It should be written as http://192.168.18.1 and then it will work to bring up the “Pick network to extend” screen of the CC Vector setup.
  4. Already connected to the internet of another network other than the CCrane WiFi or using Ethernet directly to another network or router. See above #1a steps.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet before setting up the CC Vector WiFi Repeater?

No. You do need to connect your WiFi device to the CCrane-***** WiFi network or connect the Ethernet cable to a computer/laptop Ethernet port (if available) and to the CC Vector WiFi Repeater’s Ethernet connection.

I am in the setup of the CC Vector WiFi Repeater, and it is stuck on “Scanning”. Why is it not showing networks in the “Pick a network to extend”?

  1. Check the cable and make sure the main USB cable (not the loose floppy one) is connected to the 1.5 Amplifier Cable and then to the USB port of the repeater.
  2. Check the small end of the cable to make sure the Mini USB connector is pushed into the USB WiFi Receiver (CC DX Mile) square pigtail completely. This will only fit into the pigtail one way, and it is a tight fit. It should look like this if it is connected all the way (no triangle showing).

The network I'm trying to connect to is not showing in the list under “Pick a network to extend”. Is there anything else I can do?

If you’re not receiving the network you expect to extend, it could be out of range or obstructed. Try repositioning the receiving antenna or move it to another location.

Obstructions such as walls, trees, leaves, bushes, appliances, etc. can interfere with receiving a network. Basically, anything that is in the way of line of sight between where you want to receive the signal. This also includes where the original router is located.

An example would be if my house router WiFi signal is located in my basement and I’m trying to get the signal in my garage 500’ away. This isn’t going to work or if it does, it’s going to be of very low-grade quality. For this kind of scenario, you may need a WiFi bridge system with antennas at both locations or some other solution; please call C. Crane for help determining the best solution.

Can this device be used to connect to a XFINITY WiFi, hotel, or RV Park hotspot?

Yes, our CC Vector systems can connect to most WiFi networks. These types of connections may not require a WiFi password to connect to their WiFi but do need account information to be entered using a web browser after connecting. First, follow the steps in the Quick Start Guide to get the USB light on our repeater to light up. Then open a browser to enter the login information that the hotspot provider has provided to you when you signed up for their service.

Can I change the network name and password of the WiFi repeater?

Yes. Follow these steps:
  1. Connect to the CCrane-***** WiFi network.
  2. Open a browser and enter the IP address of 192.168.18.1 to access the CC Vector setup.
  3. Click on Advanced (if you don’t see Advanced, click on the 3 lines in the upper left corner then click on Advanced).
  4. Click Local Network.
  5. Click Wireless 2.4G.
  6. Scroll down to Wireless "Master" Mode Configuration.
  7. Change "SSID (Network Name)" and "Key" ONLY.
  8. Click Apply.

Why is the Internet too slow when I am connected to CC Vector WiFi Repeater?

Interference and noise can cause the connection to be slow. Make sure CC Vector repeater and USB antenna are separated at least 5 to 15 feet. Try rotating the USB Antenna horizontal, making sure to aim broad side towards the distant WiFi network.

You can also add an additional router to the CC Vector WiFi Repeater via Ethernet. Lastly, check to make sure the USB cable is not coiled which may create line loss.

Will the CC Vector work with Security cameras?

It depends on the type of camera system. Cloud-based cameras will work because they generally only need an internet connection. Some popular brands that make cloud-based cameras are:

  • Nest Cam
  • Ring
  • Arlo (most models)
  • Zmodo (also makes NVR IP cameras)
  • Wyze
  • Blink

DVR/NVR IP Cameras may not work. These cameras need to connect to a base that is connected to the main network (router) to be accessed. The CC Vector creates its own network and will not let the cameras connect wirelessly to the base or the main network (router). DVR systems also have different requirements when it comes to the recorder. Specifically, in a DVR system, the user must connect every camera directly to the recorder. In comparison, an NVR system only requires that each camera connects to the same network. Please call C. Crane for recommendations of a customized WiFi system we offer that will work for these types of camera systems.

What is the 1.5 ft USB Amplifier cable for and is it necessary?

The USB Amplifier prevents dropouts when using heavy data over our special 30 ft USB cable. Normally USB cables are a maximum of 15 ft length for powered devices, but this device lets you go further. Please contact C. Crane at (800) 522-8863 if your system did not include the USB Amplifier cable and you are experiencing dropouts.
