Our best indoor FM Antenna that also works wonders with HD Radio.
A quick and easy way to improve the FM reception of your portable radio or stereo receiver is with an affordable FM Reflect Antenna. The FM Reflect can be bent and shaped to get the best reception from the circular polarization now used by many FM stations. If you've made the leap to HD radio, the FM Reflect is also one of the few antennas that tested well with the new digital signal.
Compared to other indoor FM antennas, the FM Reflect achieves a high signal-to-noise ratio and is less susceptible to interference from surrounding objects and people. The dipole design is more powerful than a standard dipole antenna, and delivers maximum gain across the entire FM broadcast band. Unlike ordinary dipoles, with the FM Reflect Antenna there is no fall off near the end of the FM band. In other words, this is a good FM antenna.
National Public Radio Labs has performed some HD Radio reception tests

This antenna does improve signal noticeably, however, it's not as simple as attaching it to a radio's telescoping antenna, it does take some work. The best results comes if the antenna is spread out, and you will want to have your radio next to a window ledge.
Improves FM signal reception
There is arranging of the antenna involved.
Best used by a window.

I bought this for use with a Cambridge Soundworks 820HD radio that was struggling to get my favorite stations with the supplied antennas and other antennas that I tried. After reading Jay Allen's review of the FM reflect I decided to give it a try. It completely woke up that radio. The station that I had been struggling to receive at all now came in at full HD and topped out the signal strength meter. Not only that but it now was able to find a bunch of other HD stations that I was not aware of at all. I did have to experiment a bit to find the right spot for the antenna but when I did it made a big, big difference. I had actually been thinking about selling that radio, now its a sure keeper.
Wonderful reception,Fairly easy to set up.

After 3 years with this antenna it is my clear favorite. I also use a powered Terk in omni mode and a Fanfare whip mounted high on the outside of the house. The C Crane is in the darkroom at the lowest point in the house connected to a garage sale JVC receiver and it bests them all! Spend time setting it up and it will reward you. No kidding.

"I ordered this item (orphan), I did wonder why a mechanical device would be returned and become an orphan. Well, I soon found out, I was using a ""store bought"" FM T antenna constructed of 24 gauge speaker wire. Sometimes when we have temprature ""inversion layers"", the reception of the local 30 Watt station would be unobtainable (only 12 miles way), I thought as I had never had a product from C. Crane that did not meet my expectations this antenna would solve the problem. The reality is that this antenna won't recieve the local station ""on a good day"" (I can put my finger on the conntection and get the station), but this antenna doesn't receive the station. It does recieve ""high power stations"", it is also not ""moldable"" to a specific shape (unless you nail it to the wall). I now know why this was an ""orphan"", other customers also found that this antenna is no better (and in my case worse), than any ""wire T antenna"".I therfore would not recommend it. I gave it 2 ""stars
