Capture AM like Never Before
The Twin Coil Ferrite® AM Antenna is ideal for improving most AM radio reception problems. No matter what kind of radio you're using, the antenna will significantly reduce nighttime fade out and help reduce static and distortion. The Twin Coil can double the audio clarity of any weak station during the day.
The antenna is designed to work with everything from portable radios without antenna connectors to home stereos with wire antenna terminals. The ferrite stick works on radios without antenna connectors.
The weather resistant antenna element is capable of picking up a clean signal some distance from your radio and sending it to the radio and overriding the static. This feature alone can make it the ideal AM antenna because there is no other way to get a clear signal.
The antenna element has directional characteristics. By rotating the antenna element in a window or outside you can improve the signal strength. As with any AM Antenna, you will need to take the time to experiment to find the best location.
Patch cords, antenna, tuner, ferrite stick, mounting hardware and AC Adapter are included. Optional 50' cable available, see below. Runs on included AC Adapter or 9V battery (not included). Tuner Size: 3.25" W x 4.3" H x 1.4" D. Weight: 4.5 oz. Antenna Element Size: 8.6" W x 2.5" H x 1.5" D. Weight: 8.5 oz. U.S. Patent #6,529,169 B2

Great antennae booster.
Works very well, easy to use.
It could use an adjustable gain feature. Right now, I reduce the gain by moving the antennae away a few inches. Kinda Expensive.

This thing brings in an old-time radio station from Hamilton, Ont CHML that I could only pick up occasionally - and cleaned up the signals from a dozen others.
Remarkable reception with minimal effort. Fun to tune.
There are no cons.

I live on the West Coast, about 50 miles from Vancouver. At night, regular reception of all sorts of American stations as far as LA are okay. Daytime? No dice. But with this antenna, daytime listening brings in an incredible variety of broadcasters - many the small ones, low-power signals. I am sort of amazed.
Brings in signals I never knew were there. What to say? Easy to use. Fun to use. Really effective.
Lots of wires and cables clutter my table space. But that is forgivable, given this antenna's extraordinary effectiveness.
Daytime, for me. Rural areas where signals are faint.

This antenna is very well designed, rugged and gets the job done.
Easy to operate, robust construction, great results. You can use the small pickup with any receiver without the need of an external connector. I've used this with a humble SANYO RP42 and the amount of distant stations this setup can capture is amazing. My Grunding Satellit 800 Millennium using its internal ferrite antenna is no match to the SANYO+CCRANE. As the SANYO + CCRANE setup is pretty compact you can move around and find a good spot inside w/o the need to relocate the ferrite antenna outdoors.
Back in the day this product appeared to be discontinued, got mine 5 yr ago thru eBay.
Indoors, with older equipment lacking external antenna connector.

Interesting and useful instrument. Coupling coil placement seems rather critical, I find direct connection more reliable and repeatable.
Fairly deep nulls useful in sorting out same and adjacent channel unwanted signals.
I wish there was a straightforward way to mount outside on a weather resistant rotor.

This antenna works great to bring in distant AM stations. After setup, that only took a few minutes, I was picking up stations from over 280 miles away with clarity. Without using this antenna, my C CRane Skywave SSB AM tuner would pickup some distant weak AM signals a 4 or 5 on the signal strength meter that would come in at a pretty clear 9 or 10 on the meter when using this antenna. A great product at a great price.

Well engineered. Makes my junk work radio that would be otherwise useless for am radio listenable. Am radio is my only news source so this product is very valuable to me.
I've had this for years and is still working great. Brings in distant signals.
Not easily portable but is designed for a home base radio.
Cuts out noise and is very selective.

the product does boost AM signals. it takes a little tweaking at first but it does work well. I found it easier to tune the station in initially without the signal boost and then fine tune the reception with the boost. I also found that reception improved the antenna placed in an external window using suction cups provided.
simple operation. effective at boosting signal. allows for interesting listening from around the country,
changing stations can be tedious due to my need to turn off boost to tune noted above. Lady of the house does not like to fool with it!
Easier amplify stations on parts of the band that are not too crowded. But this is true of an unamplified signal as well,

Signal levels and the number of stations receivable... dramatically increased/improved w/o a corresponding increase in noise level.
Very compact and extremely simple to use/ the stacked coarse and fine tuning controls are ultra-convenient
Placement of the antenna element on a wooden lazy Susan makes this a directional tool to maximize reception also provides an option to null/tune out stations on the same frequency

I've owned this antenna for several years, and find it works very well to help dig out distant AM stations. It's very flexible, and I purchased several extension cables to allow the receiving antenna to be located away from my receiver.
Very well thought out active AM antenna with several hookup options.
Like all active antennas, some hardware/cables to deal with, but worth it flexibility.
