When you want better AM reception, but also want an AM Antenna with some style points, this is a great choice.
Loop antennas have been used for 100 years and work extraordinarily well with any portable AM radio. No power is needed. You fine tune it by ear.
You set the TERK antenna near your AM radio (through a process called inductive coupling). It takes a few minutes to find the sweet spot for best performance (see drawing below). It increases signal strength significantly, but it will likely not help with static type noise.
The TERK comes with a 6.75' wire with twin leads so you can connect it directly to your stereo or radio.
It easily outperforms any of the smaller untuned antennas normally included with a home stereo system.

When the antennae in plugged into the radio it can sometimes cause lots of static so cannot even hear the desired station. It does help a little if the unplugged antennae is place close to my Crane CC Plus radio. It is a little better than my old Radio Shack hoop antennae.
It is a little better than my old Radio Shack hoop antennae.
I It seems like the antennae tries to draw in stations that are several hundred miles away instead of the closer, less powerful ones

Remarkable how this has increased the reception of several channels i could not get.KMOX in StLouis is 100 times better from my location in florida.
You can fine tune reception, elimination of static, increased reception with clarity.
Use at night to listen to KMOX stlouis and fine tune some channels when reception is not the best.

I've used this antenna in two distinct applications. For distant 100 - 200 mile signal stations that are inherently weak, the antenna did not increase signal strength. However, for relatively close 30 - 50 mile signal stations that are strong during the day and weak at night where the signal drifts in and out, and reception becomes softer and louder, the antenna locked on to the signal, significantly improved quality, and the reception was robust. It definitely worked for my desired application i.e., increase the nighttime Coast-to-Coast radio signal to my Witness+ recorder. In summary, it clarified and improved reception when there was signal interference but not when a remote signal was so weak to begin with.

Well, another antenna to add to my collection of antennas that do absolutely nothing. Long wait for this one to get delivered. I needed better reception at work, can't pick up most stations. Tried it at home where I have better reception and it had zero effect on any station weak or strong. Tried it with and without wired connection on both CC Radio and CC Radio-EP. On the EP when I wired it and put the switch to ext am ant, it was like the radio was off, not even static. Changed locations and orientations. In one word, useless.

I use it to get news and weather from Seattle, SF, Reno NV, LA, Salt Lake, and Albuquerque while they're 50 kW. It works - everyday - whether I'm in the Mojave Desert or fabulous Fortuna. And no batteries req'd!
Small handy low-cost very effective

I highly recommend this product, one of many I have bought from this great company C. Crane. No, I am not related to C. Crane or TERK, just a very happy customer.
I could not hear a weak AM station that I wanted to hear so I placed the TERK loop next to my radio and tuned the dial to the frequency of the station and the weak unlistenable station all of a sudden came booming in loud and clear. What a GREAT device. IT WORKS !!!
Allows you to hear weak AM stations by just placing the loop near your radio and the signal is boosted just by inductive coupling. No batteries or power needed.

this antenna is a miracle worker. i am here in Pennsylvania and yet i'm currently as i'm writing this, i'm listening to a station out in Maryland known as AM 5-60 WFRB. last night, listening to WSM AM 6-50 it occurred to me that no other passive antenna could do what this thing can. this entire antenna is one big loop. you simply put it next to the radio and it works like a pro. you can't put it on the radio, the top of the radio isn't big enough. this antenna is the best passive loop i've ever used. thanks CCrane for taking care of my needs. y'all are awesome. peace be with you. I love this antenna. I thought I was taking a chance buying an orphan, but I am impressed. I use it with an old Radio Shack DX-394, was barely able to get the local am station (WTAM). Now it comes in perfect, as well as stations from 50 miles away. And even though this is not meant as a shortwave antenna, I can now receive WWV in Ft. Collins, CO! Not real clear, but it's there! de WA9WLA

Improved receptions somewhat but not as significantly as I had hoped. It also seems to pick up the signal ahead of a clock radio in the next room, so the broadcast is out of synch by a second or two--a minor annoyance when walking around the office.
