The FM Transmitter-2 uses common FM radio waves to send sound from any device you choose to any nearby FM radio or stereo system. The only wire you have to connect is from the Transmitter to a headphone jack.
You can resolve audio delivery problems by using it with your iPhone®, Alexa® type device, WiFi internet radio, or satellite radio. Other customers have told us how they use it with their televisions, guitars, portable DVD players or iPod® (a lot of fun in cars) and even other radios. We use it regularly for listening to training videos at our company meetings.
It has a thumbwheel that allows you to adjust the input for perfect audio quality and a two-level LED indicator to help set optimal signal level. It broadcasts clean, very high fidelity stereo audio.
Maximum distance is about 45 feet line of sight with no obstructions. Broadcast distance will vary depending on your location (see FAQs for more details and Google: ccrane fm transmitter-2 ). AC adapter included, or runs on two "AA" batteries (not included). FCC compliant. Choose any FM frequency between 88.3 MHz and 107.7 MHz. Portable, fits in the palm of your hand.

I purchased almost 3 months ago. Works great, with good range.
Very Good Audio, and range. I have the Ccrane Transmitter in the bedroom. Works well with any radio in the house, including aradio in the garage without any noise or static.
CONS
None that I know of.
BEST USES
I use it to transmit SiriusXM signals to my FM radios and stereo receivers though out the house.

Only good if the receiver is within a few feet.
Nice basic design and user interface.
CONS
Has almost no range at all. I understand how Part 15 imposes a limit of 250 microvolts per meter at 3 meters. But the signal is barely there, even at just 2 meters. It would also be nice if the transmitter worked down to 87.7MHz.
BEST USES
Transmitting to very nearby receivers.

My personal XM/Sirius radio pooped-out and I was forced to purchase a new unit. When I did, I discovered that the ability of the unit to transmit - via FM - was pitifully useless thanks to new FCC regulations. So i decided to purchase the FM Transmitter from CCrane. Due to new, ridiculously tight FCC regulations, CCrane was forced to dial-back their FM Transmitter so far as to almost make it unusable. Example? I have the CCradio 2 Plus and the FM Transmitter was about 10 feet away from it with no walls in-between and that Hi-Quality radio could not pick up the signal without static. HOWEVER, IF you are a responsibile individual and/or live far from everyone else, there IS a relatively easy way to increase this unit's output to make it more usable to the average person. I maaaayy have done this and, if I did, I miiiight have been profoundly pleased at this unit's performance...just sayin'.
Compact. Easy to use. Battery power is efficient.
CONS
Low power and range with 'default' setting.
BEST USES
Home.

My Digital FM Transmitter 2 significantly improves the sound quality of the various input sources.
Can use a variety of input sources, cassette players, Mp3 players, etc.Powered by included transformer or by batteries.
CONS
Neither of the following Cons are the fault of the Transmitter! My Bose CD player/FM/AM radio is somewhat difficult to use as the target FM Radio because it automatically scans skips to live stations. Also, the sound quality of iPod input is inherently limited.
BEST USES
Quality listening of all types of music, Jazz, Roaring 20's, Ragtime, Classic, Swing, Marches, etc.I use my iPod to input Old Time Radio episodes Jack Benny, I Love a Mystery, etc..

I would absolutely love to see CCrane sell an AM version of this transmitter so i could broadcast AM quality sound to my older antique radios.

CONS
Somewhat limited range. I did the internal mod to increase the range. Now covers my whole house and most of my yard.

Have been SO satisfied with this device over many years that I recently ordered my 3rd one. Unfortunately, the range of the new one is so limited that I immediately decided to stick with the old one (fraying wires and all) ... maybe I just got a lemon.

This thing is fantastic. Before I put the money down I thought that it would not go any farther than say 10 foot or so. I start playing with it and I find it goes about 100 foot or so without any extra antenna, I also found that if you use a power strip and turn off the strip for about 5 seconds and then power it back up you get more gain rather than plugging it into a wall or something. This thing has great audio, it lets me play my music clear across my small naberhood and I can play whatever I want and be almost anywhere within a 100 foot radius and I am quite happy. If anyone comes to New Florence Pa you'll find a large variety of music on 99.5Mhz. As a blind person I found it quite easy to read even without any sighted help, it lets me do whatever I want. I love it. Thank you Bob Crane and the wonderful folks over at CCrane.
Good build, wonderful audio, works better than expected, small and compact
CONS
you cant change the compressor's attack and things of that nature.

Just ordered my 2nd FM transmitter from C.Crane. I purchased the 1st one several years ago and use it to watch TV in bed with the sound muted and a pocket sized radio with earbuds so I wouldn't disturb my wife. Now I use the FM feature on my android phone. Then realized I could listen to audiobooks broadcast to a waterproof radio in the shower. As I'm getting older I find myself staying up later. The 2nd transmitter is to listen to TV in the living room after she goes to bed. Somehow the shoot 'em ups tend to get loud. I've also used it to broadcast music to several radios throughout the house while we were entertaining.
It does what it claims to do and does it well.
CONS
Can't thnk of any.
BEST USES

I had the pleasure to author a review of this product in 2011 on HobbyBroadcaster.net and both the product and C. Crane's customer service are top notch. Aside from one small problem this transmitter has been performing without missing a beat as far as sound quality and signal coverage goes.
Compact size,Integrated antenna,Built-in overmodulation protection,Retains last used frequency
CONS
Excludes 88.1 and 107.9 frequencies
BEST USES

I bought the transmitter to broadcast SF Giants games to my garage, where using AM radios is a problem due to fluorescent light interference with AM. I broadcast off the Internet MLB audio source. Works great. I also use it a lot when out in the yard gardening, landscaping, bbqing, etc. I broadcast Internet music sources. Recently we had Cajun night on the patio - fun! My broadcast range is about 300 feet with the transmitter sitting on the kitchen table. There are recommendations to increase the range, but it hasn't been necessary for me. I did make the adjustment as described on the Internet. Note that the FM 2 model is a counter clockwise adjustment FM1 is clockwise. With a little caution it is an easy job.

I love radio and I own two FM transmitters! One is on my desktop and one is on my WiFi radio. I can tune my FM radio between two internet stations. And then turn to my favorite local stations anytime too. But one word to the wise. In order to get the full range for the entire house from the transmitter, ask Bob Crane what you need to do. It is a simple task with a screwdriver. They are set out of the box for only a short distance.

Ive tried many FM transmitters but this one beets them all. Comes with an AC adapter if you need it for home or runs for a LONG time on 2) AA batts. When it says Broadcast Audio they really mean it! So why are you still reading? Go buy one! Paul in Pahrump.

I own two transmitters and the first one has finally died after 15 years of almost 24hr a day use. I think the storm last night got it. When I first purchased this, I wrote a review about it because I was so impressed. We could hear our radio broadcast for more than two blocks away and clear as a bell. It would even broadcast through our metal garage about 500 away. My second is working great so Im off to purchase a third now and will review that one also. Just another note, my son purchased one and could not get it working correctly, however, I believe it was due to the construction of his home. He has always had trouble with his wifi signal. I think some units work better than others but have no clue as to why. I did see an article on how to increase the range but Im sure it would void the warranty. I still am a happy customer though.

The 1st day I received the FM2 I was not sure it was going to work. I placed it in many places in the room, finding a spot on a ledge of a high window. I tested 5 plugin radios and 3 portables. Each radio had different reception caracteristics. I found I could listen to reception in an outside garage, backyard, bedrooom, office, and bathroom all at once. How much more happy can I be? Maybe an adjustable pot, so my friend next door can hear all the programs I can now listen to from my Tablet on the Internet. Now I am waiting for c crane to offer an broadcast HD internet capable clock radio.

The FM2 works very well and was very easy to set up. But Id like to get rid of the AC adapter clutter w/o using batteries. My audio source is the earphone jack on my PC. Im using it to listen to Internet Radio all over the house. Its much better than Denons Internet Radio that is unreliable and subject to server dropouts all the time in the evening. Denon wont admit the problem! My power strip is already full. So its AA batteries unless I can find a USB power cable that works with the FM2. The FM2 manuals printed specs are wrong. Per C. Crane Customer Service, the plug on the AC adapter is 5.5mm OD /2.1mm ID with NEG center pin. Amazon does not specify center pin polarity for the cables they sell and thus causes a lot of confusion. From reading all of the cable reviews it appears that all of the Amazon cables are center POS. I would give the FM2 five stars if it came with a mating USB power cable like the Whole House 3 does, but for $50 more!

Works well. I like to use it to broadcast internet-based broadcasts from my computer to radios throughout my house. If you live in a large city, it might be hard to find vacant FM frequencies without bleed-through, but works well for me.
