Just a great product! But I removed the outer covering and just use under pillow.

Clear sound, better than previous one I purchased at Radio Shack. I would be even better if one were available with a local volume control at the speaker, with the same high quality of sound.

This is the second pillow speaker I have had. Both have broken in the same location after about 9 months use. This location is where the lead wire attaches to the speaker. I am considering ordering another pillow speaker. Which is best? What can I do to extend speaker use? Is the adjustable speaker less prone to failure?

See Carl and Lauryl's notes below. Pretty much says it all. Before I ordered mine I called CCrane and the rep said they have made the cord relief stronger so I ordered one. As C and L said, the sound quality is superior to the Radio Shack and similar. Thanks CCrane!!!

I have been using it almost every night for 2 or 3 years. Works great. Comfortable. Plenty loud enough for me to hear it well but my wife can't hear it at all.

Connections (wiring) work sometimes, and only if positioned in a special way, which gives me hand cramps.

I use the pillow speaker every night. I set my CCRadio for 120 minutes and use the pillow speaker to listen to the radio when I go to bed. I also use the pillow speaker for my CCRadio SWP when I travel.

The speaker is very good. My wife uses it every night. Only problem is the cable. I am in the process of ordering my 4th one in 5 years. Please do something about the cable. I would even pay more if the cable could be replaced.

The speaker is great; it is just as useful without the "pillow". The strain relief at the plug end is also top notch - - no trouble yet with the wire breaking or pulling out of the plug. We had a problem with the plug, but I think it was due to customer abuse, not a faulty product. The tip of the plug broke off inside the jack, making it necessary to dismantle the radio to remove it.

Love this speaker - the sound quality is excellent. My husband and I both use them as we listen to different radio programs at night. (Me old time radio programs, him political junk!) I do agree with the other reviewers that after a time (ours usually last a about a year) the wire attached to the speaker gets brittle and breaks. Wish they lasted a little longer but...oh, well. As long as C.Crane continues to carry them, we'll be back; we can't find them anywhere else.

Excellent audio, pillow comfort, etc. Terrible cable, becomes hard over time (6 months of nightly use), eventually breaks above flex connection. I suggest that C. Crane develop a simple mini-jack connection between cable and speaker and sell replacement cables or specify a better plastic cable covering in the first place.

I like the idea and shape of the speaker however it usually breaks within a year. I wish the wire was connected to the speaker in a more durable way..that being said I KEEP BUYING IT!

Just ordered another one. Wires break after about 9 months. Very good quality sound. Cushioning too thick and heavy. Makes it like a tennis ball. I remove it and make my own and resign myself to having to order another one in 9 months.

The speaker quality is great, but the wire connection next to the speaker snapped off. This is like the third or fourth one that has done this.

Great item while it worked. This speaker worked great for about a year, and then the wire that enters the speaker must have gotten broken internally and the speaker stopped working. This actually happened to two units I purchased. Believe me, I am not rough with the item or abuse it in any way, but over time the internal wire connection at the speaker end does not hold up. This would be a great item if it were only made better. I am somewhat disappointed after having the same issue with two of them.

My wife and I listen in the middle the night to radio and have gone through dozens of Radio Shack pillow speakers over the years. These have failed usually within 9-12 months because of cheap connecting cable. We have had two of the SoftSpekers (my wife and I like different programs)and one failed in about a year and the other is performing like new after about 2 years; and the sound quality is far superior to the RS ones.
Excellent product with the quality of other C.Crane products we have purchased.

I found the padding on the pillow speaker to be very uncomfortable. It is a rather large lump and not all that soft. The cord is also a bit long and usually ends up wound around my head, pillow or in the blankets. I was able to solve most of the issues by removing the speaker from the padding and using it as is. I also taped up the extra cord. I think a redesign is in order. Something softer with less padding and a shorter cord. The speaker is great.
