You
may have noticed this new acronym popping up on some of our products.
RoHS stands for Restrictions on Hazardous Substances, and it's a
directive that could have a huge impact on the production and disposal
of consumer electronics. First adopted in Europe in 2006 (and later
adopted in California in 2007), RoHS restricts the use of six dangerous
substances in lots of common electronics. According to the official
RoHS compliance Web site (www.rohs.eu),
the RoHS symbol indicates that "new electrical and electronic
equipment put on the market does not contain any of the six banned
substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, poly-brominated
biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), in quantities
exceeding maximum concentration values."
While some military and medical equipment is exempt from RoHS compliance,
the electronics governed by the standard are among the most common
you’ll find in your home, from radios to MP3 players to cell phones
and (increasingly) computers. In practical terms, the standard protects
factory workers at the production level, sharply reducing their
exposure to hazardous substances. The standard also has a profound
impact on the disposal and recycling of electronics, in that disposed
substances will no longer have at least six of the most hazardous
chemicals formerly found in electronics, and recycled electronics
will not expose workers to toxics as they harvest components.

The best pocket radio I’ve ever owned. I often have to work in metal framed and roofed buildings, reception is still very good. The only problem with reception occurs when I am around serious electronic equipment.

This radio has great features. More preset stations than most radios and I like the 90 minute shut off timer. However, the radio stopped receiving AM reception after two years use.

Good except the volume control knob now creates so much static when you adjust it, that I can no longer use the radio.

Excellent reception. This is just like the old unit that had VHF TV on it. They traded the TV tuner for a weather band tuner, making it twice as good as it was before.

I like the size and sound quality of the radio, but it drains the batteries within a week.

Excellent radio, draws in distant stations on AM and fine reproduction on FM, but the radio is FRAGILE. Lost one channel of audio from just a bump on the plug-in. Wife is getting me another one for Christmas.

I love this radio when I first got it too bad this thing only lasted four months!!? I treated this radio as you would treat anything that you love...1st the volume became hit and miss...then no volume AT ALL!! I would sure like my money back because this thing is useless.....

Great radio! Two issues, instructions are not easy to use. Fragile, ear plug jack went down to one channel and now has quit. So I am ordering a new one, it''s a great radio!

So far the best pocket radio I ever owned, I ride the public transportation every day and this radio is the best in AM, very good in FM, not to mention weather band. I own several pocket radios, all big brand names and the Sangean DT400W pocket is the best hands down; too bad I cannot get a refund on the other radios.

I am very happy with my DT400W. I use it so much that I am going to order a second because unfortunately I dropped it on the garage floor. I love the 90 minute sleep timer on it. I go to bed/sleep with it. If you listen to a lot of sports talk radio this is certainly the best pocket radio I have owned. The service and support I have received from C. Crane has been outstanding as well. Enjoy !

I liked the radio, will probably get another one (second chance), but I concur with the fragile comments. On mine, the ability to control the sound level disappeared, so you could never "turn it down." All I could do was turn it off. Bummer.
