Save money and time charging most battery sizes

The CC Quick Charger-2 meets C. Crane's high quality and performance standards while providing excellent value. Other battery chargers can overcharge batteries creating heat, which reduces battery life. The QuickCharger-2 has a micro-controller that monitors the charging status of each battery and shuts it off at the right time so it does not overcharge. This smart technology is called "Negative Delta V" and is considered one of the best ways of extending the lifetime of rechargeable batteries.

The CC Quick Charger-2 recharges up to four "AA", "AAA", "C", or "D" or two 9-volt NiMH batteries at a time. The Quick Charger-2 is not recommended for NiCad type batteries at this time. Just insert any combination of these batteries in any state of charge and close the lid. A Discharge option is available which can be used to improve the capacity of new or seldom used batteries. There is also a USB port in back for charging your MP3 player, cell phone or other USB device. When using the USB port for charging, you must remove any batteries you have in the charger or wait until they have finished charging before the USB port will activate. Additional features include an LCD display screen that shows each battery and its charge level as it charges or discharges. The LCD display will also let you know if the battery is bad or is causing a short circuit. And there is a safety timer built in for extra protection to prevent overcharging in special circumstances.

The CC QuickCharger-2 comes with a 100-240V AC adapter for use in USA or overseas. It's so versatile you can even use an optional 12V DC car adapter to power it for charging in a vehicle, during emergencies or for off-the-grid use. Batteries not included. One-year warranty.

The Quick Charger 2 will:

Charge up to four (4) "AA", "AAA", "C", OR "D" size batteries.
Monitor the status of each battery individually and will shut off when the batteries are fully charged.
It can also charge all of your USB devices, including your cell phone, if used with your USB patch cord.

How does the charger know when the batteries are full?

The CC Quick Charger-2 has a special technology which monitors each battery's voltage change. Once a battery is fully charged it will start to decrease slightly in voltage. At this point the charger recognizes this change, discontinues the fast charge, and switches to the trickle charge for a few hours to top off the battery.

Does the CC Quick Charger-2 charge NiCad batteries?

The CC Quick Charger-2 is designed to charge NiMH batteries only.

How does the battery charger determine if a battery is bad?

When batteries are first inserted the charger will take some time to evaluate them. If a battery’s voltage is lower than 0.2V or higher than 2.2V, the battery will be classified as a bad cell. The word "Bad" will indicate on the LCD screen and "battery icon" will flash on the LCD screen.

Why do my batteries only charge for a few minutes before showing "Full"?

There is a good chance that you are using old batteries that have lost their charge capacity. It is possible to recover some of their rated capacity by charging and discharging them over several cycles. They should begin to take longer to charge once they are conditioned further. It is also a good idea to condition new batteries for several cycles to obtain their full capacity.

You may also be using the wrong type of batteries. Batteries should have "NiMH" printed on the outside to indicate that they are the correct technology.

My "D" size batteries get warm to the touch at the end of their charge. Is this normal?

Yes, this is a common characteristic of High-Capacity batteries. This is because it takes a little longer for high capacity batteries to indicate to the charger that they are fully charged. The maximum battery temperature should be less than 120 degrees F and should not burn you when touched. The Quick Charger-2 has a backup auto-off timer that discontinues charging if it takes too long. This is to preserve your battery’s long life and also to insure your safety.

When a battery has finished charging and the indicator shows "Full", does the CC Quick Charger-2 continue to trickle charge the battery?

Yes. After charging is completed a '25-50mA' trickle charge will be applied for an amount of time depending on the size of the battery. Although the battery will be classified as "FULL" and is ready to be used, the trickle charge will "top off" the battery for extra capacity.

For AAA size batteries, the trickle charge is '25mA' and will last for 2.5 hours after charging.

For AA size batteries, the trickle charge is '50mA' and will last for 2.5 hours after charging.

For C size batteries, the trickle charge is '50mA' and will last for 4 hours after charging.

For D size batteries, the trickle charge is '50mA' and will last for 7.5 hours after charging.

For 9V batteries there is no trickle charge. After 10 hours the regular charging current will be terminated automatically.

What is the discharge rate of the CC Quick Charger-2?

It has a constant discharge rate of 350mA. For example a 2200mAh capacity battery discharged at a rate of 350mA would take 6.3 hours to discharge.

Can I run the QuickCharger on my DC system?

Yes, it uses a 12V, 2.5mm x 5.5mm, center tip positive plug.

Can I mix and match different sizes of batteries?

You can mix and match AAA, AA, C, D and 9V batteries.

Will the CC Quick Charger-2 charge alkaline batteries?

No, recharging alkaline batteries in the CC Quick Charger-2 can cause them to leak and possibly ruin the devices that they are used in.

Can I charge a USB device at the same time as I am charging batteries?

No, the USB charging feature will not work that the same time as the batteries are charging. Once charging is complete, the USB port will start charging an attached device.

The manual says that the light should shut off after charging is complete. My charger shows "Full" but the backlight is still on. Does my charger have a problem?

After the primary charge has finished, a trickle charge will continue for several hours depending on the size of battery used. The display backlight will shut off after the trickle charge is complete.

I have had the original CC Quick Charger for 10 yrs and actually like it much better than this newer version. The main issue is that this new Quick Charger will show that a battery is "bad", but then I'll put it in the original Quick Charger & it will charge just fine. It has done this several times, even with batteries that are only a couple of months old. This new version does charge batteries much quicker, though.

Very good charger. Much better than some of the cheaper chargers that can't handle high capacity batteries. This charger will handle pretty much any of the heavy duty batteries and charges quite fast too. I like the discharge feature as well, which can recondition your old batteries to get some extra life out of them.
