Cap'n Jim's Gallery, Port Huron, Michigan uses forty-two energy
efficient CC
VIVID
PAR 38 LED Spotlight Bulb to showcase the entire establishment twenty-four
hours a day, at a highly substantial savings. The visually appealing, crisp lighting
requires 92% less electrical energy than the standard tungsten bulbs. Their "silent
salesman" lighting represents a monthly cost of $23.40 versus the tungsten,
forty-one bulb, 100-watt lighting cost of $295.20 per month. The new daily energy
cost using the CC VIVID LED Spotlight Bulbs is only 78¢ a day compared to $9.84
per day when using tungsten lighting. (Based on southeastern Michigan electric
usage rate).
Marine Artist Jim Clary, owner of Cap'n Jim's Gallery supplements his tungsten display lighting with the LEDs during business hours, but switches to total LED lighting to brighten his window displays and all interior walls after dark. Clary relates, "The bright interior
lighting is our silent salesman all night long."
The LED lighting also fostered an unusual and pleasant surprise. A legally blind customer was thrilled with his ability to read and view artwork with LED lighting which he had previously been unable to do. LED lighting enhances detail offering unique clarity and greater depth perception.
LED lights generate very little heat which in turn reduces air conditioning cost. They come with a two-year guarantee, however, smaller experimental LED bulbs have been on continuously for five years and are still burning bright.
Clary is encouraging owners of dimly lit storefronts in his area to join in a program to save energy while "lighting up" their shops with LEDs. The around-the-clock bright lighting serves as an invitation to window shoppers while deterring vandalism and theft.
