Marine Artist Jim Clary, owner of Cap'n Jim's Gallery supplements his tungsten
display lighting with the LEDs during business hours, but switches to total LED
lighting to brighten his window displays and all interior walls after dark. Clary
relates, "The bright interior lighting is our silent salesman all night long."
The LED lighting also fostered an unusual and pleasant surprise. A legally blind
customer was thrilled with his ability to read and view artwork with LED lighting
which he had previously been unable to do. LED lighting enhances detail offering
unique clarity and greater depth perception.
LED lights generate very little heat which in turn reduces air conditioning cost.
They come with a two-year guarantee, however, smaller experimental LED bulbs have
been on continuously for five years and are still burning bright.
Clary is encouraging owners of dimly lit storefronts in his area to join in a
program to save energy while "lighting up" their shops with LEDs. The
around-the-clock bright lighting serves as an invitation to window shoppers while
deterring vandalism and theft.
