The New GeoBulb-3 is now brighter and uses less energy than the GeoBulb-2 The new GeoBulb-3 cool white LED light bulb uses 7 Watts of power to put out about as much light as a 50-Watt incandescent light bulb. You can use it in most places where you currently use an indoor, standard, screw-in 60-Watt bulb. You can install a GeoBulb to bring energy efficient lighting to a foyer, open ceiling cans or track lighting. It is still initially more costly than a compact fluorescent but the cost over the life of the bulb is getting close to the cost of using a compact fluorescent in some cases. A few examples of best places to use the GeoBulb are in high ceilings, where it is unsafe, costly and time consuming to change a light. The GeoBulb gives off most of its light evenly from the top of the bulb. You get your best return when you replace a bulb that is "on" most of the time. The GeoBulb gives off very little heat and turns on instantly at full brightness. There is no warm-up period like compact fluorescents. Once you install a GeoBulb, you don't have to think about changing it for up to five years even if used continuously. Unlike CFL's, the GeoBulb puts out a consistent color of light for the life of the bulb. It has no mercury, can be used in colder temperatures, and is built for maximum longevity. The GeoBulb is available in three color temperatures: Cool White, Warm White and Soft White, and is backed by a five-year limited warranty. The room temperature must not exceed 95°F for the warranty to be valid. In addition, the GeoBulb must be used in an open fixture for ventilation. Note: The GeoBulb-3 is non-dimmable. Using this light bulb with a dimmer switch may damage the bulb. It must be used in a room temperature of less than 95°F and in an open ventilated fixture or it will void the warranty. Quantity discounts are available on all GeoBulbs. Weight: 4.8 oz. * Lumen tests were performed by Luminaire Test Laboratory (LTL), one of the best testing labs in the United States. While LTL found the total lumens for a standard incandescent bulb to be higher, the Cool White GeoBulb® is about 25% brighter in the 0-90 degree quadrant which is one of the most important areas of usable light. The light output of the GeoBulb® was designed to point in primarily one direction based on our research of actual use.

| | How does the GeoBulb® compare in cost to an installed solar powered system? The GeoBulb is much easier and less expensive to install than a solar or wind generating system. The payback period should also be signifcantly lower since most solar systems have a payback period of 30 years. |
| | Is the color of the light different with a GeoBulb®? Depending on which of the three colors you select, the GeoBulb® has a slightly different color than other light bulbs you may have seen before. Everyone is very sensitive to any color change in their lighting. I must say that getting used to a GeoBulb® is easier than getting accustomed to a compact fluorescent light. A GeoBulb® turns on without a delay and does not have a warm-up period. Here is a brief description of each color: - Warm White is surprisingly close to the color of a normal incandescent bulb. It is likely that everyone who sees the bulb will assume it is an incandescent bulb. The light output is similar to a 40 Watt Incandescent bulb. This color is excellent for creating a warm lighting atmosphere.
- Soft White is a modern color similar to a halogen bulb. The light output is similar to a 50 Watt Incandescent bulb. It is suitable for a kitchen and general lighting.
- Cool White is has a slight blue hue and is most similar in color to daylight. The light output is similar to a 60 Watt Incandescent bulb. It is good for an office environment.
| | What colors temperatures are available? - Warm White is 2600 - 3000 Kelvin and close to a normal incandescent color.
- Soft White is 3600 - 4000 Kelvin and a modern color blend between Cool and Warm
- Cool White is 5,000 - 5200 Kelvin and has a slight blue hue but is close to actual daylight.

| | What color is best for my application? Cool White puts out the most light and is a good choice for work areas. Soft White has a pleasant color for general work or most home lighting. Warm White is for ambiance such as restaurant or home lighting. |
| | How was the GeoBulb® designed to be used? The GeoBulb® is designed to be used indoors at an ambient temperature that does not exceed 95 degrees Fahrenheit. A ceiling downlilght fixture is an excellent application for the GeoBulb®. It also works well for desk lamps or floor lamps or any other open-type fixture. |
| | How long will the GeoBulb® last? The GeoBulb®-3 is rated to last up to 50,000 hours. This is over 5 years at 24/7 or approximately 34 years at an average use of 4 hours per day. |
| | Will a GeoBulb® work with a dimmer switch? No, it is not recommended. Using the GeoBulb® with a dimmer may damage the bulb and voids the warranty. |
| | Will a GeoBulb® work in a 3-way lamp? The GeoBulb® will operate safely in a 3-way lamp controlled by a manual switch. You will not notice any difference in light output. It will be like operating a standard bulb (not a 3 way bulb). Touch sensor 3-way lamps are NOT SAFE to use the GeoBulb® in. The electronics in these lamps may damage the bulb beyond repair and will void the warranty. |
| | Why are LED bulbs so expensive? The components and raw materials are expensive but LEDs do save a lot on energy. The up front cost is high for an LED bulb but it cost much more to run an incandescent bulb over a few years than an LED bulb. This is true for bulbs that are used often. The price of an LED bulb is beginning to meet the total cost to run a compact fluorescent when you include energy costs. |
| | What is Power Factor and why is it important? The Power Factor expresses the efficiency of the circuit. The GeoBulb® runs with a power factor of about .80, a CFL runs at about .50 and an incandescent runs at 1. To put it another way, you need a 60 watt generator for a 60 watt incandescent bulb, you need a 25 watt generator to run a 13 watt CFL and a 9.5 watt generator for the GeoBulb® To run a GeoBulb® the power company has to generate less than half the power required for a comparable CFL. It means the power company could reduce their generating capacity if we all switch to GeoBulbs® or any other energy efficient appliances. There is another very technical reason the GeoBulb® is good for a power company. The circuit is a "leading" type which helps offset the type of power an electric motor requires - which is "trailing". The GeoBulb® helps balance the load delivered by a power company and can reduce the net power generated. Phasor Diagrams |
