How can a light
bulb use less than 8-Watts of power but put out more light than
a 60-Watt bulb?
It’s
not a riddle. It’s the new GeoBulb from C. Crane. We’ve been obsessed
with the wonder of LED lights ever since we first put two white
LEDs into a flashlight instead of an incandescent bulb. That was
over ten years ago, and since then we’ve tested and experimented
with all sorts of different LED lights – from pocket flashlights
to light bulbs. When we introduced our first line of LED Light
Bulbs, the Vivid Series, just a couple years ago, the response
was amazing. Suddenly there was an alternative way to light our
homes and workplaces that didn’t require fragile filament-type
bulbs or inconsistent compact fluorescents. While the Vivid Series
is ideal for low lighting applications – as in task lights or
reading lamps – our newest line of LED Light Bulbs, the GeoBulb,
is in another category all together. The GeoBulb brings LED light
bulbs up to the brightness of incandescent bulbs, but still maintains
the qualities that make LEDs so very exceptional: they last 30,000
hours, use a fraction of the power of incandescent bulbs, generate
very little heat and aren’t susceptible to vibrations or repeated
on/off switching. One of the obstacles to producing a long-lasting,
bright LED Light Bulb was that the components in an LED bulb would
often fail before the LEDs. C. Crane’s Ralph Guest and Jarl Johansen
worked together with our dedicated partners to overcome this obstacle,
and their solution makes it possible for us to offer an unprecedented
three-year warranty on every GeoBulb branded LED light bulb. This
warranty is valid even if the bulb is used 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, for three consecutive years. The GeoBulbs use our
new Premium Quality-High Brightness (PQ-HB) bulbs. It’s just about
a perfect light bulb.

| The GeoBulb
Light Bulb is going to change the way we light our homes and businesses.
Unlike any light bulb you’ve ever seen before, the GeoBulb uses
less than 8 Watts of power to put out as much light as most 60-Watt
incandescent light bulbs. Because it’s so bright, you can use it
just about anywhere you currently use a standard, screw-in 60-Watt
bulb. You can install a GeoBulb to bring energy efficient lighting
to a foyer, open ceiling cans, table lamps, you name it. The GeoBulb
gives off very little heat and turns on instantly. And once you
install a GeoBulb, you won’t have to even think about changing it
for over 30,000 hours. In practical terms, that 30,000-hour life
span averages out to 7 years if the bulb is on 12 hours per day.
Unlike compact fluorescent light bulbs, the GeoBulb has no mercury,
turns on instantly, creates no humming sound, and can be used in
colder temperatures. Every part of the GeoBulb is built for maximum
longevity. The GeoBulb is available in three color temperatures
– Cool Daylight, Warm White and Soft White, and is backed by a three-year
warranty. |

We are all hoping to
make better use of technology to cut down on our energy consumption
and preserve more natural resources. At C. Crane we're doing our
part for energy conservation as well. Our contribution? Something
we call Premium Quality-High Brightness (PQ-HB) LED Bulbs. Unlike
your average bulbs, which generally have to be replaced once a
year, our new PQ-HB LED light bulbs will last over ten years -
saving you money every day that they're on, and take a huge bite
out of your energy consumption (and electric bill). While the
first generation of LED light bulbs was better suited for reading
and task lights and other direct lighting situations, our new
PQ-HB GeoBulbs offer you direct replacements for conventional
incandescent wedge base bulbs. The very first of these new PQ-HB
light bulbs is our GeoBulb™ Wedge Base LED Light Bulb.
|
| |
The
GeoBulb Wedge Base type bulb is designed to fit into all wedge-based
fixtures, such as Malibu® type outdoor light fixtures. The GeoBulb
Wedge Base uses less than 1/4 of the energy of a standard 4-watt
wedge base, while producing more light than even an 11-watt incandescent
bulb if used in an up or down light fixture. It put out more than
four watts of light horizontally as found in a typical garden light. |
| |
|
The GeoBulb Wedge Base
lasts up to ten years, it is mercury free, and it generates very
little heat. Based on wattage there is no reason you can't install
16 light fixtures on one transformer rather than the normal four.
This saves in the initial cost, energy and the hassle of additional
transformers and wiring. Made in Fortuna, California.
Warranty: We
back the GeoBulb with an unprecedented, unconditional 3-year warranty
against burnout. The 3-year warranty is valid even if used 24
hours a day for three consecutive years.
C. Crane seized on
the potential of white LED's almost the day they came out in 1997.
We designed the first multi-bulb, white LED flashlight and with
that invention we helped keep hundreds of thousand of dead batteries
out of the landfill. With the new PQ-HB GeoBulb, C. Crane hopes
to give everyone an easy, useful and practical way to save energy
and cut the costs of their energy bills. Please sign up for our

How Did C.
Crane Test the GeoBulb Wedge Base to Come Up With Relative Lumen
Output?
|
An electronic
lumen test instrument was used at one foot away from the
bulb in a dark room. This is for comparison only as a standard
lumen test must be done in a specific
manner with specialized equipment. The terms Lux and
Lumens are interchangeable. Note the GeoBulb outperformed
both 4-watt and 11-watt incandescent bulbs in Test A below.
This makes the GeoBulb very good for a fixture which directs
light directly down or up.
