C. Crane’s core mission is to improve weak signals. In most cases, we can boost a weak unreliable WiFi signal to usable strength and reliability..

The Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 plugs into the USB port of your Windows based computer for powerful long range WiFi reception. Internal WiFi is not required and installation is a snap. It can help you maintain a network connection of more than 300 feet even through several walls. You can typically find several new wireless networks. In our extreme distance tests we were able to connect to a network a mile away (with no obstructions).

Weatherproof, IP65 rated. It is one of the best and most versatile home, mobile and RV WiFi Antennas made.

NOTE: The Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 requires installation of software drivers. Gaming stations such as the Xbox® and the Sony PlayStation®, the iPad®, iPhone® and Android® devices are not capable of installing these software drivers. Compatible with Windows XP – Windows 10.

Have a MAC, Chromebook or need to connect more than one device? Our new CC Vector Home WiFi Repeater System will pull in those distant signals for improved reception of almost any WiFi device, including smartphones, tablets and even MAC and Chromebook operating systems (all versions). Extending range of wifi for a laptop
I live and work at a remote wilderness lodge. Our only access to the world is our satellite internet service. We have wifi routers in the lodge itself but i live in a trailer several hundred yards from them. I could occasionally get a bar of signal and maybe get my email or the news. The CCrane WIFI antenna 3 has quadrupled my signal at the same distance. The power boost option (second usb plug) really does help as well. This frees me up to move my camper further back into the trees so as not to visually impact the lodge grounds. Nobody wants to see a 1962 camper outside their window when they are paying to stay here, and I don't blame them. Along with a small solar/battery setup this CCrane antenna will allow me to have a bit of convenience in my time off from work and benefit the lodge. This antenna does work exactly as advertised. One tip I wrapped my antenna, including the connectors, inside a plastic bag and secured the bag with a rubber band. It is hung under the eave of my camper outside but the rain doesn't always fall straight down up here.

Best WiFi Antenna Made
Powerful. Sturdy. Easy.
I have used this unit on Windows and Ubuntu, and it is excellent. I even installed the unit on the roof of my house in the scorching sun, wind and rain it it performed superbly. If mine ever breaks, I will buy again. If you need an antenna that will pull in weak routers, this is it. Notice that the low ratings are all from Mac owners. The problem is using Macs, not the antenna.

This product worked great until I upgraded OSX to Yosemite. Now it is useless. I see the explanation in a prior review, but Crane should either write the software themselves or have a better contractual relationship with those who do. This is not acceptable. You are abandoning all your Mac users.

One Very Big Problem
There is one big problem with this antenna that, if I had known prior to purchase, would have changed my mind about the purchase. The software to support the antenna is not consistently updated for Macs. Per the response to my complaint that I received from the manufacturer: Unfortunately we do not write the software for our USB devices. This normally comes from the manufacturer of the chipset that is used in our products. We will do our best to get an updated driver for our products and do understand the importance of keeping up to date with changes of software. You will be contacted via email once we hear of any updated software drivers. The manufacturer went on to say that it could be days, months, or even YEARS before the software is updated. Without updated software, the antenna is a useless piece of $100 hardware. The software is currently not updated for Apple OS X Yosemite (10.10), so the antenna that I purchased just over one year ago is currently useless.

We have been having constant Wi-Fi problems at the RV parks until the purchase of this antenna. I mounted it on a piece of conduit with tie wraps and ran the wire through the slide clamping the pipe with simple spring clamps from the hardware store. The software is a breeze and the reception now is better and faster than my AT&T Wi-Fi. Excellent product to cure your problem and easy to use and install. You wont be sorry purchasing this antenna.

Great device
Has meet my expectations. I had an increase in signal that almost doubled. I was getting about 40 to 45<ignal strength. With the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 it has jumped to 80 to 90>sing the antenna in the same location). Great product.

So far so good!
Suctioned cupped the varmint onto a high (10ft) eastward facing window about 25ft from computer. Turn on windows 7 and as advertised the varmint went off to ccrane and found the drivers and installed same. The varmint works with Linux Ubuntu 14.04 and Mint 13. Will try varmint on windows 8 and post the results. The quality of Super 3 is much better than Super 2, however, Super 2 served my Linux Mint 11 OK. Super 3 delivers a much stronger signal. I hope the varmint keeps on giving :-)

Just get it! You wont be disappointed
I've owned this antenna now for almost two years with absolutely no problems. I've had to replace the 30 cable, but no big deal. I live in an RV Park and have the antenna mounted on an extendable pole, with the antenna about 3 above my roof line. The antenna was needed to get a decent signal from the parks wifi point. At a distance of over 200 yds. I get full strength signals the vast majority of the time. I wish you could come up with a device that would allow me to connect the antenna to a wifi router. At the moment i use a program called connectify that turns my laptop into a hotspot and transmits a wifi signal throught the trailer for my smartphone and my wifes laptop. it is a work around, but a dedicated device would be nice. all in all a great antenna

Fantastic, BUT
This is a fantastic antenna. It really does pull in weak signals. Overall, it is a very valuable addition to anyones equipment. So why the 2 stars? Because it now CRASHES A MAC COMPUTER EVERY TIME IT IS REMOVED, necessitating a lengthy restart!!!!! This problem surfaced after the upgrade to OS X Mavericks. C. Crane, please make this antenna play nice with Mavericks and you are back to 5 stars!!

Overall it is ok but in my opinion not as good as advertised. I have an ALFA card that was $40 and has almost the same strength as this Super USB WiFi antenna. I was expecting a little more but oh well, its an ok product. Can't wait for the next one to come out!

This is a fantastic Antenna. My only wish is that there was a way to re-broadcast the WiFi signal so that multiple computers could share the signal. I do it now through ICS but it would be so nice to get the signal into the house where 3 PC's could share it. (idea?) Thanks for a great product. I used to get about 2 bars but now get 4-5 unless the link is being saturated by streaming kiddies (the 2013 baby sitting app). Thanks again. I am a believer.

This product cannot withstand Extreme Winter Weather Conditions. I left this antenna mounted on my roof at a seasonal Trailer Park. When I tried to use it this year, it failed, and water was found dripping out of the main USB cable, which was still plugged into the bottom of the antenna. This shows that that antenna case is not weatherproof, and needs to be sealed or protected within a plastic pipe, concealing both antenna USB cable connector from the weather. However when it works, it does pull in WIFI signals as advertised.

This device is awesome. As a contractor, I can not access my customer's network for security reasons. I had to tether my laptop to my phone to get an internet connection. Now, with my office on the second floor, I can connect to a WiFi hotspot 1.5 miles away and my signal strength is strong!

I received the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 today. I quickly hooked it up and stuck it to the inside of one of my RV windows just to see how it worked. I was immediately absolutely amazed at the signal strength and quality of my Wifi signal. Where I was getting 2 bars, now I'm maxing out the meter. I am also picking up 11 other strong WiFi signals and I haven't even put the antenna outside yet. And another point, my signal is now consistent, where as before it was in and out. I highly recommend this Antenna to anyone who needs to boost their signal strength.

The unit was shipped within a couple of days and installed flawlessly with Mac 10.7. It has performed as advertised and appears to be well made. It is easy for the connector at the base to become loose, so this needs to be checked regularly (weight of the cable hangs on a mini USB plug). Overall, I am glad that I bought it and recommend it to others who need to extend their WiFi range.Caveats - I doubt that anywhere near one mile is obtainable in the real world. My experience is that about 500' under real world conditions (both ends beside a window, ground level, some foliage between) is the max. In my case, from inside wooden buildings with several walls in the way, the unit works well to about 200'. Beyond that the router will disconnect regularly as signal strength varies. That is enough range to justify buying it for connecting one building to another. If you are beyond normal WiFi range, but well within shouting distance, this is probably going to work for you.Ian Baines, Burlington, ON

While plugging this unit into the usb port on the bottom of the antenna, the port receiver snapped of the contacts and disappeared up into the antenna. I am hoping it was just a fluke that this happened, so I have reordered the antenna and I am going to return the one I have for what I hope will be a pleasant return experience with C. Crane which I am sure it will be.

The Super USB Antenna 3 blows away all of the WiFi antennas that I have previously used. As a "professional tourist", I am always looking for WiFi hotspots to connect to, to surf the web, and to stay in touch with friends and family while on the road. I probably shouldn't write this, but it is also a great back-up if your home internet service should go down too ;). Highly recommend this antenna!

I'm sorry but I am VERY disappointed with the product. I installed the software as instructed, no problems. However the end result was TERRIBLE. It didn't pull-in ANY signals any better than a much cheaper antenna I'd purchased in the past elsewhere. I was expecting a lot more. I gave it away to a friend. I was so disappointed. Sorry....just stating the facts.Big expenditure and big disappointment.

All I can say is WOW. I've been struggling with a weak WiFi signal in our home for the past four years. I've tried router antenna extensions, relocating the router, three different routers and I still couldn't get a decent signal to my wife's computer. It was to the point of being very aggravating (her complaining about it). I installed this antenna on her computer in about five minutes and now she has full signal strength and I can see other router signals from at least a four block radius. In summary - excellent product, performs as specified and best of all - marriage saved. Thank you.

There are a couple of really neat features about this product. One nice feature is the very high gain ... while I intend to use it in my RV, I got excited when the antenna arrived and I stuck the antenna on a window close to my computer and I picked up signals that were not in range with my WiFire (formerly, my favorite choice when traveling). The next nice feature is that the antenna is omni-directional ... no longer will I have to carefully scan an area with a highly directional antenna. The next nice feature is the long cable and the fact that it can be used outdoors. The final nice feature is that the optional software is excellent, assuming that you want to fuss with the antenna.

  • Which side (front or back) faces the window when using the suction cups?

It's up to you. The Super USB Wi-Fi Antenna is Omni-directional, and so it can receive the signal from any direction.

  • Can I use a passive USB extension cable to add on to the existing length of the cable that came with the Super USB WiFi Antenna?

No, the Super USB WiFi Antenna should not be connected to an additional passive USB extension cable. Please use the 15ft USB cable that came with the antenna or replace it by purchasing an optional 30ft USB cable. It is not recommended to exceed the 30ft USB cable, as it can cause severe signal loss.

  • My computer is not showing that the antenna is plugged in. What is wrong?

Check the connection between the antenna and the cable to be sure they are tightly connected. If only one USB port is available, make sure to use the main USB cable connector, not the optional Power Boost connector (single loose connector).

  • My software shows that the antenna is connected but when I try to use my internet browser I am unable to view anything. What should I do?

You may not have a strong enough WiFi connection. Successful connection to a wireless network usually requires a minimum of 2 bars of signal. If the signal is low, you can try relocating or repositioning the antenna with a better line-of-sight view to the WiFi source; or the wireless network does not offer internet service; or a firewall/virus protection is preventing access.

  • I purchased the USB WiFi Antenna and when it is hooked up it does not improve my WiFi reception. Is there something I can do to make it work better?

Be sure that the antenna is positioned vertically in the center of the window, if the WiFi source is outside your location. Using the optional 30ft accessory cable, you can mount your antenna outside and up high for best reception. Please consult the Assembly Guide (or Tips section of the Quick Start Guide) for weather proofing instructions.

  • My computer has an internal WiFi antenna; is it necessary to disable it before installing the software and the Super USB WiFi Antenna?

It is not required, but it is recommended. If both WiFi connections are going at the same time, it will require more power from your computer and create extra heat. Usually there is a button, switch, or key on a laptop that disables the built-in WiFi device.

  • Do I need to use the Ralink WLAN Utility supplied with this antenna?

Installing the “Driver Only” is the easiest way to use your antenna. We recommend that only advanced users and Windows 2000 users install the Ralink WLAN Utility. For more assistance using the Ralink WLAN Utility, refer to the full user manual on the supplied CD.

  • What does IP65 stand for?

IP followed by two numbers are protection ratings that are applied to indicate how well an enclosures protects against water, dust, oil, or other ingress. These ratings were established by the International Electro Technical Commission. IP itself stands for Ingress Protection. The first number being a 6 means: Totally protected against dust ingress. The second number being a 5 means: Protected against low pressure water jets from any direction. Limited ingress permitted. In layman’s terms it means the product is dust proof and water resistant.

  • Why are there two USB input connectors on this antenna cable? If I can only use one on my computer which one do I use?

One USB connector is for power and data transfer, the other is for a boost to power. You will want to use the power and data USB connector which is the one with two cables attached to it.

  • I am using MAC OS and installed the software and hooked up my Super WiFi Antenna-3. It shows successfully connected but I have no IP address and no internet access, why?

It is possible to be using the wrong encryption key and for the software to still say you are connected (because all the steps were followed). Please check your encryption key again to ensure the correct passcode is being used.

  • I am using MAC OS 10.6 and am having trouble installing the software. What can I do to resolve this?

Please click the Downloads tab on this page and check for the latest driver.

  • I am planning on using the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 on a boat. Is there anything extra I should consider?

We recommend that you use Coax Seal to protect the antenna connection from heavy salt water corrosion.

  • I have Windows 7/Vista and inserted the software CD. I clicked on "Run Autorun.exe" but nothing is happening.

Check the bottom Task Bar area for a security shield or message that is asking permission to install the software. Also, if your computer has a third party Firewall or Virus protection installed, you may have to disable it. Please read the manufacturer’s instruction manual.

  • My computer is a Mac and I connect to a Secure Network but every time I shut my computer down, I have to reenter the Encryption Key.

Connect to the network and click on “Add Profile”. See “Creating a Profile” on page 12 of the Quick Start Guide for more information.

  • I use the antenna with my iPad? or iPhone? to increase my WiFi reception?

No. The Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 requires installation of software drivers. The iPad® and iPhone® are not capable of installing software drivers.

  • What do the blue and red lights on the antenna mean?

The flashing blue light means the antenna is getting power and the intermittent red light means the antenna is communicating with the computer. When both lights are on solid, it means that the antenna is not functioning properly. Reasons for this are commonly related to missing drivers or issues with the USB cable. Make sure you are using the correct drivers and that the cable is inserted snugly into the jacks on both ends.

  • Will the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 work with Windows 8?

Yes it will. In most cases all you have to do is plug in the antenna to your computer using the supplied cable and Windows® 8 will install the device. In some rare cases you will need to be near a hot spot for Windows® 8 to locate the drivers. The drivers on the CD will work but the software will not auto-run when the CD is inserted (you may have to manually start the CD). The drivers are on the page for the antenna under the "downloads" tab for future reference should you need them.

  • This antenna claims to boost WiFi up to 1 mile. How was this tested?

We tested the range from the top of a high beach bluff to a road below that had no obstructions. On the top of the bluff, we pointed a 12dBi directional panel antenna to the road below. We stopped at ¼ mile intervals and tested the WiFi connection and internet usability. At 1 mile a connection was made without a problem. We continued down the road testing for more range. At 1 ¼ miles the connection remained but was slower. At 1 ½ miles, the antenna was out of range. It is theoretically possible to increase the distance by upgrading the access point's 12dBi WiFi antenna to a larger antenna.

  • USB WiFi Antenna 3 Connections, Old vs. New

If you purchased your US3 before March 25, 2013, then your antenna has the original connector shown in the picture on the left. The connector plugged into the base of the antenna. The current model of US3 now has the connector hardwired to the antenna, which cannot be removed (see picture to the right). The USB connection on the current version is now further down the cord, improving flexibility and weatherproofing of the connection. We changed the design due to suggestions from customers who own the older version of the antenna and worked to prevent any connection failures.

  • Will the Super USB WiFi Antenna 3 work with Windows® 10?

Yes it will. In most cases all you have to do is plug in the antenna to your computer using the supplied cable and Windows® 10 will install the device. The drivers for the antenna are bundled in with the Windows® 10 operating system.
