Our best indoor FM Antenna that also works wonders with HD Radio.

A quick and easy way to improve the FM reception of your portable radio or stereo receiver is with an affordable FM Reflect Antenna. The FM Reflect can be bent and shaped to get the best reception from the circular polarization now used by many FM stations. If you've made the leap to HD radio, the FM Reflect is also one of the few antennas that tested well with the new digital signal.

Compared to other indoor FM antennas, the FM Reflect achieves a high signal-to-noise ratio and is less susceptible to interference from surrounding objects and people. The dipole design is more powerful than a standard dipole antenna, and delivers maximum gain across the entire FM broadcast band. Unlike ordinary dipoles, with the FM Reflect Antenna there is no fall off near the end of the FM band. In other words, this is a good FM antenna.

You may find bending the FM Reflect in the approximation of a circle produces the best results. A substantial number of FM stations broadcast using "circular polarization".

National Public Radio Labs has performed some HD Radio reception tests using the FM Reflect and other FM antennas

Size: 54" all-copper element with an 8-foot feed line. Weight: 8.5 oz. Comes with "F" connector, balun spade connector and alligator clip.

still working with product
I have had my dipole antenna for 3 or 4 weeks and I have yet to find the optimal position to get desired results. Will keep working with it to get things right.

Doesn't get the FM station I wanted
I am keeping the antenna even though it did not do the job for which I bought it. I think I can use an additional FM antenna just for basic listening anyway.
I'm still NOT able to pick up the FM station for which I bought the antenna. All I know is that the station frequency is in between 2 stations (103.9 FM). There are 2 other stations on either side of it that interfere or overpower it. I'm disappointed but I'm keeping the antenna in hopes that it will help me get stations anyway.
I'm nonetheless happy with all the C.Crane radios I bought. I have nothing but C.Crane radios in my home. I like the analog best.

Couldn't help!
Well constructed.
Not very pliable when trying to bend into shape.
Bought at Full price $39.99 -now i see it on sale for $19.99! Ouch!!
Best Uses
Further away from source transmission
I live in downtown Chicago -just 2 miles or so from all the big stations. I have always had trouble with static. locking in a station and multi-path distortion. I had high hopes! It didn't do the trick for me. Same issues. I picked up a little set of rabbit ears and while the issues have not gone away entirely, they are easier to adjust when the signal changes for whatever reason.

it's a nice antenna. i love it. it allows me to bring the bible broadcasting network into my home and that's all the way in Charlotte North Carolina at a frequency of 91.7 i think the feed line could be connected better to the antenna itself and i think the clamp could have a sturdier connection on the antenna. it clamps well to the telescopic and in the end does what it's supposed to do thus, i can't complain. it's a nice antenna and as always, CCrane takes care of my needs. peace be with you. I've used this for several years to improve my FM reception in Seattle so that my HD-radio channels lock in properly. It was easy to manipulate into a shape that optimized reception for the two stations I most wanted (HD radio is finicky). It is elegant and so inconspicuous compared to something which works better because it is very large or is up on your roof.

Had some trouble connecting the antenna to my receiver but was able to find adapters to make it work. Once connected, the antenna works like a charm. I work in a big office building and wanted to listen to a classical station with a relatively weak signal. The antenna that came with the receiver was useless but this one brings in the classical station clear as a bell. Very happy with it.

I bought this antenna to tune in a low powered FM station about 35 miles away. But after trying many configurations and various places on my wall and still not getting a good strong signal I said some bad words and threw the antenna on the floor. Instantly the station came in like I was in the studio! Not wanting it on the floor I found a place on the wall near where it fell. For some strange reason lower was better for a good strong signal. The moral of the story is don't give up in finding the sweet spot for best reception. Be patient it will work and work very well.

This antenna does work well; however placement and the shape you have it bent into is very important. I live about 70 miles away from Toronto and receive a lot of Toronto FM stations static free with the FM reflect.

I live in the mountains far from any stations. I was hoping that this antenna would improve my reception over my standard loop antenna. I was disappointed that I could only pull in one additional station clearly and actually lost stations that I was already receiving clearly.

  • What are my connection options with the FM Reflect Antenna?

You can use the F-connector (coaxial cable) if your radio has that kind of jack. You can also use the balun spade if your radio has screw type terminals for an FM antenna. If your radio has neither of these types of connections, you can use the included alligator clip to connect it to the whip antenna.

  • What is the impedance of the FM Reflect Antennas connectors?

The F-connector has a 75Ω impedance. The balun connector for the radios with screw type terminals converts the 75Ω to 300Ω.

  • Good sound, lightweight and comfortable; not too tight on the head. I like one feature; it doesn't tell you where to place the speakers, left side or right side.

  • I purchase this product specifically for AM recordings and it has worked superbly. I wanted to wait awhile before I gave my opinion on the product. It has worded exactly as advertised and more.
