AM FM Portable Radio Designed for Long-Range Reception and Audio Clarity

The purpose of the CCRadio-2E is to make weak signals strong and also to produce crisp, accurate audio for the spoken word. AM performance comes from our patented Twin-Coil Ferrite® AM Antenna and traditional FM reception is exceptional in its ability to bring in a weak station clearly. Audio can be adjusted for accurate and warm voice rendition and good musical performance. This radio also has the weather band and alert along with the 2-meter Ham band. More information about the 2-Meter Ham Band can be found at CCRadio.com/2-meter.

Since the CCRadio’s original debut the external design has remained the same but there have been countless revisions inside to improve performance, durability and audio. It is one of the most popular portables manufactured and many experts feel it is the best AM radio made. It has evolved into C. Crane’s flagship radio.

Features:
  • Exceptional AM reception with the Twin-Coil® Ferrite Antenna
  • Audio tuned for the spoken word
  • AM, FM, Weather Band with NOAA Weather Alert and the 2-Meter Ham Band
  • Clock, Alarm, Sleep timer, Headphone Jack and adjustable Display Light
  • 5 Memory Presets Per Band
  • Available in Black Mica or Titanium Color
  • Rotary Bass and Treble controls
  • Line-input and line-output jacks
  • External Antenna jacks

Weight: 4 lbs (without optional batteries) Size: 11" W x 6.5" H x 4" D.

Best All Around Radio Ever !

Multiple power options
Useful functions
Cons
Dim Display
Best Uses

This is actually a review for the CCRadioplus and not the current CCRadio 2E but I'm submitting it because I've owned the CCRadioplus for at least 10 years (maybe more?)and wanted to give a long term use report. The CCRadio is a workhorse and one of the most useful general purpose radios ever made. It fills many functions: clock radio, weather alert radio, battery powered radio, etc. Shortly after I purchased the radio the display failed. I returned it to C. Crane and they promptly repaired it at no cost. They returned the radio and it's been fine ever since. My only complainant is the display light was dim and now it has stopped working completely. The display still works but it's no longer illuminated. After many years of use, some rain, paint and lots of dust it sounds as good as ever. The FM is very good (often beating receivers with large external antennas!) and the AM isn't bad with the internal antenna and good with the addition of a Select-A-Tenna. If the CCRadio 2E is anything like the older model you will not be disappointed. This is solid gear and well worth owning.

Owned Many of These
Pros
(1) great reception. (2) heavy duty. (3) portability
Cons
(1) The LC display will be the first thing to go. (2) The electrionic goes in a year or two. (3) The connection to the powercord gets loose.
Best Uses
As an indoor radio.
This will be the sixth of this model that I have purchased. That should tell you something. The exterior is built like a tank, it is the LC display and electronics that doesn't last. Even with that I still think it has no competitors on the market.

We live far from the big city and were hoping to get better AM reception with the CCRadio 2E. But it is not as static-free as our old GE Superadio. I will try the twin coil antenna booster. Keep your fingers crossed.

Still the best portable AM/FM radio
Pulls in the weak stations at night, best of all my radios. FM sound quality is great. 2 suggestions, when I turn on the light, give me the option to leave it on, same time as the sleep timer is set to. ( I like to use it as a night light ) Second suggestion, give me the option to set the default display. I like to see the frequency displayed and not revert back to the time. Make it a press and hold option using the freq button. Id also like to mention I like your big beefy power cord. How about designing a $500 version of the ccradio. Many controls to fine tune the signal along with several analogue tuning and strength indicators. ( love radios )

The AM section is Excellent. The Ham band is OK but wish it had a antenna input. The FM is not to Good it has image Frequency of the FM station you are listening to 3 clicks either way. The weather section is very good. This is my second CCradio The first was the one with the TV band on it. The audio is very good with good Bass and good high.I am a AM listener and like to DX AM stations. I also use your Justice AM antenna. I wish you would upgrade your Justice AM antenna and make it more powerful.

  • How long will a fresh set of D-size Alkaline batteries power the radio?

A set of D Alkaline batteries rated at 21000 mAh would provide roughly 250 hours of runtime. This is based on AM band usage and if the radio is played at a moderate volume level with the display light off.

  • How long is the power cord on the CCRadio-2E Enhanced?

The power cord is 6 feet long.

  • How do I use the "AUX IN" jack on the CCRadio-2E Enhanced?

Plug a device, such as a portable CD player or mp3 player, into the "AUX IN " jack, located on the back of the radio. Then hold down the "Band" button for three seconds. The radio will beep and you will see the word "AUX" in the display.

  • How long do I have to change the batteries before I lose the clock and memory information programmed in the radio?

The battery indicator will display the battery level for approximately two seconds when the radio is switched off. After removing dead batteries for replacement, you have approximately three minutes to replace the batteries before your clock and memory information will be lost (if the radio is not plugged in).

  • This WiFi Antenna is hands down the best. It allows me to connect to a business almost a half mile away. Two months time and this baby paid for itself. I am a very happy with my purchase.
    — John A., Mill Valley, CA
  • This radio deserves five stars because it sounds great, the ease of use and preset stations. This radio will become your favorite radio, also backed by great customer service if ever needed, thank you very much.
    — Pete P., Santa Rosa, CA
  • This is an excellent internet radio. I have had the unit playing constantly from the time I received it. Excellent sound for such a small unit and the remote works wonderfully.
    — James H., Richmond, BC
  • Good sound, lightweight and comfortable; not too tight on the head. I like one feature; it doesn't tell you where to place the speakers, left side or right side.
    — Harry W., Manassas, VA
  • I purchase this product specifically for AM recordings and it has worked superbly. I wanted to wait awhile before I gave my opinion on the product. It has worded exactly as advertised and more.
    — Jack L., San Pedro, CA
  • Very nice, economical home lighting. If you're used to the white light of fluorescent bulb replacements, these will offer the same type with no toxic ingredients or damaging UV radiation.
    — Gary B., San Francisco, CA
  • This antenna does work well; however placement and the shape you have it bent into is very important. I live about 70 miles away from Toronto and receive a lot of Toronto FM stations static free with the FM reflect.
    — Thomas S., Buffalo, NY
  • I'm not sure how I gone this far in life without it. I just love it. The best sound ever from an AM radio.
    — James G., Springfield, MA
  • This device is awesome. As a contractor, I can not access my customer's network for security reasons. Now, with my office on the second floor, I can connect to a WiFi hotspot 1.5 miles away and my signal strength is strong!
    — Robert S., Tabernacle, NJ
  • I just received my EP radio yesterday. I'm totally impressed with the old school simplicity and the modern day sound quality. Thank you, C.Crane!
    — David C., Raleigh, NC
  • I have had only one, thank the lord, occasion to use this in and emergency situation and it worked flawlessly. Only one in the area with radio for two days of power loss... Thank you CCrane!!
    — Vernon P., Dufur, OR
  • This radio is totally fantastic!!! It will provide service in any condition and works as engineered and advertised. I am going to order more units for all family members.
    — Glen B., Bethlehem, PA
  • This radio is wonderful. Small but powerful. Several years of service and no problems.
    — William B., Litchfield, IL
  • Just received this little jewel... did not open the manual and I was listening to NPR within minutes... no kidding. I'm a radio guy and the audio is great and look forward to a lot of great listening.
